DUDE, MY DUDE wants us to know they bring a refreshing “dual frontman” sound to the UK Indie Rock scene. Their blend of catchy melodies and live rock feel shines in their debut single ‘Loser’. The song is like something straight out of a 90’s teen movie or at least one we would find on the soundtrack. Lyrically the song recounts the end of a night out the band describe it best and explained:
“The song recounts the classic events that accompany a walk home after a night out: losing your phone, your friends, and lamenting your situation as you eat a cold portion of cheesy chips.”
Dude, My Dude
The duo of Benjamin Lyth and Matthieu Thienpont use their cheeky sense of humour to hit us in a place where it hurts, reality. Most of us have been in this kind of situation. Although we may not have seen the fun side of it at the time we can look back on our post-adolescent adventure with nostalgia-driven humour now.
They formed in late 2019 when several Dr Pepper fueled jam sessions led to a sound that made them think: “yeah, that’s totally us.” The demo of ‘Loser’ was recorded on an iPhone, which gave the song a characteristic rawness that they kept in the studio version.
It’s a perfect lockdown song because it reminds us of everything we’re looking forward to in the future. The little things we miss, like even the worst nights out that when completely wrong. Give it a stream and have a laugh whilst we await what will be next from this pair.
This song can be found on Amplified Magazine’s March 2021 New Music Playlist.
There are lots of other great songs on there too so why not give it a listen and a like. The more popular our playlists become, the more great artists will want to feature on them and we will be able to bring you even more awesome music.
