Jacko Hooper is a singer-songwriter who also runs Folklore Sessions the label and promotions company. Today however he has his musicians hat on with the release of earth-shatteringly good single ‘This Was The Earth’
The song was written and recorded from Jacko’s bedroom with help from life long friend and Producer, Josh Trinnaman. He hopes the song will transform itself for each and every person who hears it. Making the song less about himself and more about his listeners. When talking about the song Hooper said:
“I don’t feel that the original story of why I wrote the song is necessarily the most important thing, I think the fact people can listen to it and all of a sudden it becomes a different story with a totally different meaning is the best thing of all, to be able to connect to it people need it to be their story, not mine”.
Jacko Hooper
Hooper certainly fulfils this mission and the song takes on a life of its own for all who listen to its honest and raw incarnation. Let’s be honest when Hooper sings “The world is so scary I only live inside my head” we felt that. Because we’ve all been there at some point in our lives.
The indie-folk song is as theatrical as the video is obscure it draws you into a scene from an independent film playing in your head on repeat. With hauntingly good vocals he even makes the occasional F-word sound classy and not at all crass, so perfect is his voice.
This is definitely one for the mellow playlists and we strongly suggest you add it to yours as soon as you can.
This song can be found on Amplified Magazine’s March 2021 New Music Playlist.
There are lots of other great songs on there too so why not give it a listen and a like. The more popular our playlists become, the more great artists will want to feature on them and we will be able to bring you even more awesome music.
