slowride are a British indie rock band that has an eclectic taste in music that means they draw from pop and electro as well. Following their debut single ‘I Feel Like You’, the new single ‘Forever In My Head’ is a sign that slowride are not going to stop producing quality tracks. The song mixes glorious guitars and dramatic drumming throwing in some synths for extra measure.
The tracks lyrical content is about walking the wire and living life on the razor’s edge. The balancing act of keeping your things together. Until you realise that’s no way to live and you’re ready to make a change. When talking about the songs meaning the band said:
“The lyrics “How do I make that sound forever happen in my head” is referring to the momentary glimmers of hope, sparks of joy, clarity and positivity that you feel when you in the spiral of doom. Learning to harness and cultivate those positive feelings and see them for what they should be, a priority in life is all part of the constant battle of conquering balance in life.”

The song is quite poppy but not too far over that it could be classed as mainstream despite its addictive sing-along nature. At one point listeners could be forgiven for thinking they’ve been transported into a 2000’s teen TV show and this is the soundtrack. However, the raw vocal quality in the verses adds a darker sound to the song balancing out the pop elements.
This is a track that you can enjoy without having to concentrate too hard. It’s easy to listen to and is best described as Synth Indie Rock if you must put it into a genre or category. Needless to say, we think you should definitely stream it at your earliest convenience, you won’t regret it.
