This release, ‘Goodbye’ sees Dama Juda finding her place when it comes to musical style. The electro-pop artist has been experimenting with where her sound should be going. With influences coming from all over the place it’s hardly surprising either. She lists her influences as Ellie Goulding, Post Malone, XXXtencion, Blink 182, Sum 41 and Linkin Park amongst others. When talking about finding her own niche Juda explained:
“This is my 4th release and beyond my favourite. I’ve been looking for my song style and this is starting to hit close. I think this song will reach across many audiences and that excites me. I can’t wait to see how this song will move people and I hope it starts with you.”
Dama Juda
The actual song is quite upbeat more so than any of her previous releases which is how it ended up on our radar. We love sad emotional songs that are juxtaposed with more cheerful music. Lyrically she sings of the struggles that continually coming back to a relationship you thought was over, saying goodbye again and again.
This is something many of us can relate to as not all relationships have starts and finishes that are black and white. The vocals in this song drag you into all the grey areas of the end of this particular relationship. One that we hear has ended right at the very start, we then are thrown around like a waltzer through one emotion to the next.
The verses act as a kind of closure before you are hit with the chorus which brings the ex back in through a door you thought was closed. Her performance on the track is raw and vulnerable and yet strong and defiant all at the same time. This may be a result of the confidence boost of finding a sound that fits her better mixed with the emotional subject matter.
The soundscape that she has created is exquisite each layer of the song gives us something else to get our teeth into. It’s a song that listeners could happily listen to on repeat each time getting deeper into the track.
This song can be found on Amplified Magazine’s March 2021 New Music Playlist.
There are lots of other great songs on there too so why not give it a listen and a like. The more popular our playlists become, the more great artists will want to feature on them and we will be able to bring you even more awesome music.
